When we want something, set a goal or identify something we lack we often go about planning how we can reach that future vision. We decide what it is that we want and them work and work towards it. This can also be seen in our attempts to better perceive the world - we train our minds, use tools and struggle to see the world with more clarity.
This concept is very simple: imagine that everything is there, trying to get to you. Rather than you struggling to reach it, it is trying to reach you. All you have to do is allow it to reach you, let the world impinge on you.
In this way we could allow more of our raw perceptions to penetrate to our consciousness. When applied to goals we could spend more time preparing to grab opportunities as they reach us. If we assume that we get many more opportunities than we realise, perhaps we just need to open ourselves up to the possibilities that already exist.
This implies that our actions directed to change the world to be what we want are limited in the effect they can have. If you trust that the right opportunity will be provided by the world and change yourself so that you can identify and grab the opportunity when it happens then you have a totally different outlook.
Try it and see if it works - it's no substitute for other methods of achieving your goals or seeing the world more clearly, but is an approach that might make us stop and think if our strivings are in the right direction. For each goal, how much should you change the world and how much change yourself?
