 The covering letter

This is the letter that got me the interview that got me the job!

This is just an example of what worked for me so that you can learn, it's not necessarily the right way. Happy job hunting!

Dear Mr XXX

Future Considerations came to my attention whilst searching for companies involved in change management. Having looked at your website I find myself very interested. I feel that I have skills that could add value to Future Considerations.

I am 26, a graduate in chemistry and management, and have experience of process improvement from many aspects. Early on I worked in product development and then CRM. Since then I have become experienced in creating systems and products in IT consultancy and operations management. Currently, I am delivering the new online products set for a publishing company. Throughout my career I have found that the people aspects of change are the most crucial.

What makes Dave different?
The person he is:
  • Systems thinker
  • Passionate and enthusiastic
  • Balanced, holistic approach
  • People focussed
  • Lives and breathes process improvement
  • Innovative
The experience he has:
  • Customer relationship management
  • Innovative problem solving
  • Product formulation and creation
  • IT systems design and creation
  • Training creation, delivery and management
  • Project management
  • Operations co-ordination

My key benefit is that I offer the connections and synthesis between all these things.

I believe that I have the right attitude and am highly motivated and energetic. I have lots of relevant experience, but I don't believe that I know everything. In fact I am young and trying to break in on this world to create a career for myself - a difficult proposition.

If you can spare 30 minutes of your time to advise me on how I might seek employment in the sphere in which your company operates I feel sure that it would be immensely useful to me and hopefully mutually beneficial. May I call your office in the next few days to see if there might be a gap in your busy schedule to meet with me?

Thank you for your time
