Moving on?

So, I assume you're here because, at some level, you're thinking of moving jobs (from 'seeing what's out there' to 'get me a job now, how will I pay the rent next month?!')

There's lots to consider, and a profusion of internet advice. One size never fits all, but I believe that something of the information below will benefit everyone. I've outlined a process, you might be at any point, so dive in, but the idea is that it follows sequentially: sort out how you want to work > write the CV > format the CV to look good, compare with other examples, etc...

 The job change process
So, the process. What I've done is to break down the daunting journey of changing jobs into more manageable steps (more steps are being added). Each of these steps build on the previous steps - strong foundations will enable you to get what you deserve - so you will start wherever you want to, but know that it works best when done sequentially. Don't sell yourself short...

Find out about yourself
Even if you know what you were born to be, the successful job change process starts with understanding the person making the job change.

This section helps you to discover more about yourself. If you know what you want to do, skip this bit, but do look at the books and exercises - they'll help you understand how you want to work as well as what you want to do.

Look at what you want to do

I know what I want to do, how do I get started?

The CV
This is the part of the process to write your CV and format it well. I got advice from a variety of sources including a professional CV writing service that charged £200 (and that's quite cheap for CV writing I discovered!) - so save yourself some money and get some CV writing tools and advice here for free!
