Ten Things About Dave
|
|
- Music and people matter to me most; I enjoy time in the company of both.
- I think in networks and am discovering that the more subjects you know something about, the more you realise they are all interlinked. Learning as much as I can about everything I can is one of my enduring passions.
- The 5-year plan is to get myself another degree (possibly an MBA) and to become my own boss with a portfolio working style.
- I strongly believe in increasing simplicity in systems, be that at home (by having less stuff) or at work (by creating easily maintained processes). The system should be the slave of the people, not the other way around.
- I really like doing something spontaneous, but I prefer to follow others' spontaneous leaps
- I feel I need time by myself on a regular basis, I never do anything special with this time, but it seems to keep me sane!
- I crave quality and love anything that is made with care and attention to detail. I detest needlessly decorated items, well-made functional items are attractive simply because of their quality
- Things that depersonalise me make me angry. For example, automated phone queuing systems, call centres, and having to deal with junk mail
- My thinking style is quite black and white, on those personality questionnaires, I always strongly agree or disagree, never an intermediary
- Many things that people do in the world of 'other people' (i.e. at work or on the news) seem bizarre and counter-intuitive to me. See the Grunting in Tennis Example
